We absolutely love taking our camper across the country. We have traveled tens of thousands of miles, made countless memories, and purchased an absurd amount of fuel. Over the last two years we have leveraged two free apps to save hundreds of dollars!
Yes, that whole gas and diesel fill up thing. It is often the first thing folks mention when they find out we have a camper. The comment no RV camper asks for.
“I’d rather pay for a hotel then gas, it’s probably cheaper”.
Is it? Maybe, maybe not. So many factors go into that calculation and we don’t care to crunch those numbers as it is not relevant to us. What matters is we are in our little home away from home in the most beautiful settings making memories together.
Since paying for fuel is a necessary evil, we have looked for different ways to reduce that expense. We tried Good Sam, but never used it as it was too restrictive. Luckily, we found an app that was super simple to use and has loads of fuel discount offers available from gas stations all over the country. In 2 years we have saved well over $400 between Lindsey and I. Better yet, we have been redeeming the savings this year in the form of cash and investing it into a brokerage account and watching it grow. If that is not a financial life hack I don’t know what is.
